Mi Familia!!!!

Another week has come and gone in Kearns. And I love it more and more every day! There are ups and downs every day and maybe for the first time since I've been out I felt a little homesick earlier last week. But the Lord reminds me why I'm here, and the miracles help me recognize that this is truly His work. Plus it helps to have an awesome companion. Sister Bingham and I have so much fun together, and are pretty sure we are the same person because we have such similar personalities and are even adopting each other's mannerisms. It's pretty funny. Last week there was this one day where we were just a little loopy and the smallest things were really funny. Plus we kept saying ridiculous things. We were calling to set up an appt and the sister on the other end asked what my name was and I said, "my name is sister Bingham and my companion is... oh no!" I just started laughing really hard and had to hand the phone over to my comp. Saturday night our dinner appt fell through so we were hanging out eating dinner at home when we just decided to bake some cookies. It was storming outside, it was so fun just to be inside baking cookies and having a good time.

Alright, now for the best part! We had the most amazing miracle this week. So Monday we got a media referral during the day and went to go contact that night. This cute young adult girl answers the door and said, "Wow, that was fast!!" Her name is S, and she requested missionaries for herself! we found out in our first conversation that night that she has never had any interest in the Mormon church her whole life, but recently she'd had some experiences that had caused her to realize what she really wanted. Having a friend talk about getting married for eternity caused her to realize that that was something she wanted for herself. And then she had her little boy, and the father just turned out to be a jerk and so she's been raising him by herself. And then she started dating this RM, who has been amazing. They've talked about marriage a little, and she wants to work towards a temple marriage because she wants an eternal family. Basically sis Bingham and I were just so excited and couldn't believe how golden she is. We've taught her already 3 times this last week, and Saturday we took her to temple square! She accepted a baptismal invitation, and is so ready to be baptized, the only thing that's standing in the way is her work schedule. She works Sundays, but she is doing everything she can to get off at least a few hours to go to church. Because she actually wants to go and get to know the ward!! GOLDEN. So golden. Teaching here is incredible, because she just believes it and is so on board. She has sincere intent, she wants to know for herself and not for her boyfriend.

Besides that, there have been so many other good things too. S, our 9 year old investigator, is solid to be baptized in two weeks so we're getting really excited. The C family is doing so well. Last Monday Sister C took a picture of us and texted it to dad, I'm not sure if he got it though.

We had a sweet regional conference on Thursday with 3 stakes, it was basically a follow up from the leadership training  a few months ago with all the ward councils, led by Elder Doxey of the 70. It really impacted the leadership in our wards and they're starting to make some changes and progress will come. Us missionaries were pretty excited about it... we love members getting involved! It makes the work so much easier and more effective.

Saturday we had a zone conference, with all the missionaries in the Kearns West zone. It was so good. Our zone leaders are awesome. We talked about focusing on our goal of baptizing, and how when we are full of charity for our fellow brothers and sisters and our desire to help them, all the hard things along the way don't even matter. At one point this hilarious greenie, Elder Bridge, said something that made us all laugh but is a cool thought. He was like "I'm just happy to be here, on Earth. And think about it, where else in the world will you find a group of 18-22 year olds sitting in a conference room wearing suits and dresses discussing salvation of souls on a Friday afternoon?" It's amazing what the gospel makes of us.
I am so happy to be here. We are a part of a great work, and the Lord trusts us.

It's all true!!

Love you,
Hermana Mackenzie Nelson
